Meeting notes from Monday, September 23, 2002:
-
Ratings: The board and the school assignor spent some of the meeting looking at the details of the new
ratings system that will be proposed to the general membership at one of our first fall meetings. There
are still details to be worked out and more questions to be answered so we will discuss it again at our
next board meeting. The cost of the observer program is a big concern as is whether or not our members
will keep track of all their partners and rate them all at the end of the season (can we print them a
list?). Observers in other associations are being paid $28.00 per varsity game. Can we find qualified
observers?
-
Jim Shaw will proceed with having a zip drive installed for backup on the association's financial PC and
Rick Byrum will proceed with having a write-able CD drive installed on the scheduling PC for backup.
-
Jim Shaw has worked out a phone budget with our recreation assignor of $400.00 per season.
-
Jim has presented a "school ball" budget to the board and we project a slightly positive balance for the 2002-2003 season. The cost of any observer program will determine whether the positive balance is a few hundred dollars or possibly a
couple thousand dollars. Our recreation program will have a positive balance of just a few hundred dollars.
-
Glenn will be handing out several recruiting brochures to students at Snohomish High School. We have picked up
some promising young refs from SHS in the past couple of years.
-
Jim Shaw reported that we have 84 officials registered with the state. We may need to order a few more sets of
manuals to make sure that everyone gets a set. Jim will follow-up on that.
-
Glenn reported that the Elk's club has approved our use of their gymnasium from 6 PM to 7 PM at the first four
general meetings for our apprentice program.
-
Glenn also reported that ProStock will attend the 2nd general meeting to sell their officiating products to our
officials.
-
A reminder that the interpreter's meeting will be held at 6:30 PM on Wednesday, November 6 at Marysville-Pilchuck
High School.
NEXT BOARD MEETING: Tuesday, October 15 at 7:00 PM
