Meeting Minutes for SCBOWBO

September 3, 2003

Minutes from meeting held Wednesday, September 3, 2003:

  • In attendance: Gunther Hausmann, Larry Kiger, Tony Helf, Pat Kaminske, Kevin Erickson and Jim Shaw.
  • Ashley Thomas was nominated and approved as our new association president.
  • The budgets for school ball and recreation ball for 2003-2004 were presented by Jim Shaw and approved by the board.
  • Gunther, Kevin and Jim summarized their experience at the WIAA/WOA meeting last month.
  • Meeting dates for 2003-2004 season were finalized. Larry Kiger will confirm them with the Elks Club in Everett. The dates are:
    Monday, Nov 3 at 7 PM
    Monday, Nov 17 at 7 PM
    Monday, Dec 1 at 7 PM
    Monday, Dec 15 at 7 PM
    Monday, Jan 5 at 7 PM
    Saturday, Jan 17 at 10 AM
    Monday, Feb 2 at 7 PM
    Monday, Feb 16 at 7 PM
  • It was briefly discussed that we need to set a fine schedule for pay sheets that are terminally late. We have had some time sheets that are up to 2 years tardy. Larry and Pat will check with their business contacts to find out what we can legally implement.
  • Our constitution does not presently have an injury policy. This topic was tabled until next meeting because Ashley and Jason were not in attendance.
  • We may have our last meeting (Feb 16) partially catered by the Elks Club to thank them for allowing us to have our meetings at their site. We may also change locations for our meetings next year. While we appreciate all that the Elks Club has done for us, there are probably more suitable locations for our association which is trying to recruit more female officials.
  • Tony Helf gave our group an update on the progress of the ratings committee. We helped him narrow down his choices to 3 or 4 items to present to membership. We will invite him to the next board mtg. to give us a progress update. They will present them to the general group at meeting two and then have them voted on at meeting three this fall.
  • Referee Recruitment announcements are now posted at EVCC and EDCC. Larry will e-mail Kevin some info on local papers. Kevin will contact Trent Harwood about getting some publicity to the naval station. Kevin will follow-up with Glenn Dunbar to make sure he gets the info out to Snohomish High School again.
  • Plan 2003-04 General Meetings
  • We will be working with the boys association again on training new officials. The floor training dates are November 8, November 11, and November 15. Those will all take place at Mountlake Terrace HS. Their will also be an introduction meeting at MLTHS before the floor training.
  • Board members were given a copy of the job descriptions for board members and asked to pick the things they would like to work on throughout the 2003-2004 season.
