Meeting Minutes for SCBOWBO

Meeting Agenda: Monday, October 28, 2002:

Kevin Erickson welcomed everyone and introduced the Assignors and Board Members.
-
Jim Shaw presented a gift watch to departing board member Mike Shumway. Mike's three years of service on the
board was greatly appreciated!
-
Jim Shaw handed out plaques to our officials who worked the state tournaments last year and presented
last year's Dick Rodland Award to much-deserving Nick Nickerson.
-
Glenn Dunbar handed out gift certificates to members who recruited new officials last year. The certificates
can be redeemed for officiating merchandise when ProStock attends our November 18 meeting.
-
Gunther Hausmann updated our service awards (in other words, refs who moved into a new "5-year category" of service
let us know so we can purchase their service pins).

Jim Shaw talked about dues and assigning fees and the forms that need to be turned in.
(Rule books are not given out and officials do not get game assignments until dues are
paid and forms have been turned in)

Pat Kaminske talked about the apprentice program and reminded our "veteran" refs that donating
their old equipment to the apprentice program is much appreciated.

Glenn Dunbar took pictures of officials for the website.

Kevin Erickson encouraged our officials to uset the SCBOWBO website to reduce the number of calls that get
made to our assignors.

Rick Byrum present his new ratings system to the general membership. It will be voted on at the November 18 meeting.

Glenn Dunbar gave the meeting date and location of the interpreter's meeting (Wed, Nov 6 at
Marysville-Pilchuck High School and discussed it's importance.

Jim Shaw talked about the $10.00 pass available to officials for the state tournaments.

Jason Bradley talked about SCBOWBO shirts available for sale.

Rick Byrum and Dan Taylor talked about school and rec ball assigning.

This week's officiating myths:
Is it traveling for A1 to catch her own airball?: Answer: NO!
If A1 passes to A2 and A2 takes several steps while bobbling the pass, is it traveling?: Answer: NO! (you cannot
travel without having control of the ball).

Question and Answer session was held. No questions.

Rick Byrum took attendance. Dan Taylor's name was drawn for the attendance raffle and he won a referee shirt.
BOARD MEETING AFTERWARDS:
-
Long-time official (and past president and past assignor) Time Wheatley has retired from officiating. The board
approved purchasing a restaurant gift certificate to thank him for his years of service.
