Board Meeting Minutes for SCBOWBO
|
|
|
Agenda for board meeting to be held Wednesday, October 8, 2003:
-
In attendance: Jason Bradley, Ashley Thomas, Gunther Hausmann, Pat Kaminske, Kevin Erickson, Jim Shaw and
Rick Byrum.
-
The welcome letter has been sent to all officials on our mailing list. Rick is already receiving info
forms and availability forms from officials.
-
Our constitution does not presently have an injury policy. The board will present the following proposal
to the general members for a vote at the second meeting:
"Any official who suffers a season-ending injury while working an SCBOWBO-assigned game may petition the board for a leave of absence at any point in the season if that official has not yet worked enough games to be rated."
-
Kevin will order the plaques for state tournament officials this week.
-
Rick Byrum has a new cell phone for SCBOWBO business. The phone number is 425-501-0259.
-
Jim Shaw will be purchasing two VHS cameras and one digital camera for SCBOWBO business shortly.
-
Pat Kaminske will be making copies of Rick Byrum's evaluation and expectations form that Kevin created (and had Rick sign) and send it to
each board member.
-
There is an officials clinic at Monroe B & G Club on Tuesday, Oct 14. Kevin will recruit some help via
his official's e-mail list.
-
Larry Kiger will check into the cost of having our next-to-last general meeting catered by the Elks Club.
-
Tony Helf e-mailed the progress of the ratings committee to Kevin. Kevin printed the e-mail out for all
board members. It looks as if the ratings committee will have two or three changes to the ratings system
to be voted on by the general group this fall. The committee has been communicating via e-mail and doing
an excellent job.
-
Gunther will be in charge of taking attendance at this year's general meetings. Per the constitution, members
may not miss more than 3 meetings. Members may make up a maximum of one meeting. If more than one
make-up is required, the member must request that from the board in person.
-
WOA basketball meeting next week. Jim Shaw is working to try to get an SCBOWBO member to attend the WOA's
basketball-only meeting next Thursday in Renton.
-
Per state law and SCBOWBO policy, any official who does not turn their paysheet in within three years
will have their pay donated to SCBOWBO. This will not happen until that official has received a certified
notification letter from the board of directors.
-
We are losing approximately 5 quality officials this year for a variety of reasons. On a good note, we
have a record number of potential recruits, some of whom have considerable officiating experience.
-
The Boys and Girls Club "Premier League" which was to replace the Everett School District's junior high
basketball program has been cancelled.
-
The board planned the agenda for our first 2003-04 general meeting. That agenda can be found at
this link.
-
Larry Kiger will be in contact with Doug Howell of the boy's association to plan the apprentice training dates
at Mountlake Terrace High School.
-
Rick Byrum presented a timeline to the board outlining when he will have all officials and sites (etc.)
entered into our new assigning program and when the season scheduling will be complete (test run).
-
Specific job duties were given to the board members and that info can be found at the board of directors link. Kevin will call an official to give the first "basketball presentation"
on dead ball officiating.
NEXT BOARD MEETING:
November 03 after the general meeting.
