Meeting Minutes for SCBOWBO

November 3, 2003

Meeting Agenda: Monday, November 3, 2003:

  • President Ashley Thomas welcomed everyone and introduced the Assignors and Board Members.
  • Jason Bradley handed out plaques to our officials who worked the state tournaments last year.
  • Pat Kaminske updated our service awards and will purchase service pins for the following officials:
    Dana Reese - 10
    Dan Taylor - 15
    Tim Wheatley - 25
  • Jim Shaw talked about dues and assigning fees and the forms that need to be turned in.
  • Larry Kiger talked about the apprentice and training program.
  • Kevin started taking pictures of officials for the website with the new SCBOWBO digital camera.
  • Paul Patterson gave an excellent presentation on dead-ball officiating.
  • Kevin Erickson encouraged our officials to use the SCBOWBO website to reduce the number of calls that get made to our assignors.
  • Jim Shaw talked about L&I insurance for school ball vs. rec ball.
  • Ashley gave the meeting date and location of the interpreter's meeting (Mon, Nov 10 at Cascade High School at 7 PM) and discussed it's importance.
  • Rick Byrum and Dan Taylor discussed school and rec ball assigning.
  • Gunther Hausmann recounted his experience as an evaluator at the State B Tournament.
  • Kevin Erickson won the attendance raffle and will receive a free ref shirt from ProStock.

BOARD MEETING AFTERWARDS:

  • The board agreed that assignor Rick Byrum will continue to receive monthly draws for his assignor salary provided that he continues to meet his timeline.
  • Larry Kiger and Gunther Hausmann will attend the WOA meeting in Burlington on November 20.
  • Jim Shaw will order a few more flag patches and we will charge each referee the cost (no more subsidies) of each flag, shirt, and coat patch.
  • Jim Shaw will request a document from the WOA showing that we are a non-profit organization.
