Meeting Minutes for SCBOWBO
|
|
|
Meeting Agenda: Tuesday, November 1, 2005:
-
Tony Churlin welcomed everyone to the meeting and expressed
enthusiasm and optimism for the upcoming season. He welcomed back
the veterans and also the many new officials. Tony also introduced
our game assignor, Dan Taylor, and our finance advisor, Pat
Kaminske.
-
Troy Moe discussed the floor training sessions that are available for the new apprentice officials. They will be held at Valley View Middle
School on Wed, Nov 1 and Wed, Nov 8 at 6:45 PM. All new officials are
invited and all veterans are welcome to come and help out the newbies.
-
Greg Osborne discussed the video-taping service that will be offered
by the Board of Directors this year. Any official wishing to have one
of their games taped should sign-up to do so. Getting video-taped is a
great way to improve how you look and the image you project on the
floor. Getting taped can be a humbling experience because the tape
does not lie.
-
Assignor Dan Taylor discussed the recreation leagues and the
opportunites for our new officials to work those games. He also
reminded officials to put their info into
Arbiter which is the new
software assigning program being used this year for school game
assignments.
-
Tony Churlin announced that Trent Harwood is the official photographer
for SCBOWBO (and SCBOA as well) and that Trent would be taking
"head shots" for the website. Trent will be bringing a ref shirt to
the first couple of meetings that officials can put on while having
their picture taken. Veteran officials who don't have a picture on
file (or who don't like their current picture) can also have a new
picture taken by Trent.
-
Glenn Dunbar talked about the off-season recruiting committee and
welcomed all the new officials. He encouraged all veteran officials
to bring extra gear to the next couple of meetings to give to the
new officials. Glenn will be keeping a notebook of "referred
officials. Any official who brought a new (or transfer) official this
year will receive $50.00 in cash at the end of the season if their new
official worked at least 10 games (school or rec) this season.
-
Rule books were handed out to new officials. More rule books will be
ordered and given to new officials when dues are paid.
-
Larry Kiger handed out the NFHS test to veteran officials. Apprentice
officials will do the test as a group at a future meeting.
-
Tony Churlin encouraged new officials to take a look at the
SCBOWBO website for information
and new on our organization.
-
Tony reminded everyone of the MANDATORY interpreter's meeting at
Cascade High School on Monday, Novemeber 7 at 7 PM. Officials who
do not make that meeting need to find an alternative interpreter's
meeting to go to. That is each official's responsibility. A list
of alternative interpreter meetings is listed on this website in
the meeting minutes section.
-
Tony displayed the new SCBOA polo shirts available for sale for $25.00
each and made order forms available.
-
The meeting was adjourned at 7:45 PM and pizza and pop was provided.

Board Meeting after general meeting:
-
Tony Churlin requested that board members get agenda items to him
for the general meetings.
One item for the agenda discussed was doing the NFHS test, preferable
early in December.
Tony Churlin discussed the letter he is writing to the schools
requesting an increase in the mileage fees. He is trying to
coordinate this letter with the boys officials association.
Tony Churlin said that he would investigate getting a financial audit
going. This audit would take place after the new Financial Advisor
is up to speed and all the information has been transferred over.
Ashley Thomas said that he would work on assigning guidelines and
would have a draft ready by the Interpreter's Meeting.
Greg Osborne will check into and start making preliminary plans for
the year-end party.
NEXT MEETING (Interpreter Meeting):
