Meeting Agenda for June 2, 2004 board meeting

June 2, 2004

Board Meeting: June 2, 2004

MEETING NOTES

  • The ratings (as compiled by Marty Martinis and Alan Guffy) were approved and will be sent to all officials ASAP.
  • There was some discussion on standardizing recreation ball fees. This is something that Jim Shaw has been working on since becoming our financial advisor - prior to that they were all over the board. He is working towards having officials receive between $23.00 and $25.00 per game (2-person) for all stop-clock games. Some variance will continue because length of quarters differs from tourney to tourney and league to league.

There was considerable discussion on the quality of officiating at recreation leagues and tournaments. There is a lack of hustle by many officials.. much of this has to do with the fact that our assignor is giving too many games to individual officials in one day. They are getting tired and not giving full effort on their latter games. Many are also giving poor effort even on their beginning games in order to pace themselves. The assignor should not be giving more than 4 games per day to any one official.

In order to ensure that all interested officials are given the opportunity to referee SCBOWBO leagues and tournaments, the assignor will notify Kevin Erickson whenever an event is upcoming. Kevin will then send out an e-mail to all officials (those who have e-mails ID) encouraging them to call Dan if they are interested in officiating.

  • When our previous assignor resigned, he left in the middle of a month. He had already been paid through that entire month. However, the board has decided that there will be no attempts to collect the extra 1/2 month pay if the previous assignor ever returns to officiating. The effort would not be worth the amount that was overpaid. In addition, the previous assignor put in a considerable amount of time doing data entry to the new software assigning program that was purchased prior to last season. This is a closed issue.
  • The first board meeting for the new board of directors will be held July 21 at Alfy's Pizza on Broadway in North Everett.
