Due to the many games scheduled there was low turnout. Troy Moe started off the meeting with old business and the moved onto current business. At this meeting nominations were opened for new board members. Nominated were Kevin Stride (Luke Carpenter), John Johnson (Trent Harwood) & Leslie Tidball (Tony Helf). Nominations are still open until the conclusion of the next meeting scheduled for Monday 1/29/07 after which time nominations will be closed. Voting will then take place at the next general meeting. It was decided at the 1/22/07 meeting that association members can cast their votes for new board members via email after all nominations have been accepted and further nominations are closed. If you are unable to attend the meeting were voting for board members will take place please email your vote to any board member.
Members are also requested to nominate host school, player and coach of
the year. This can be done at the next meeting or via email.
If you
are not able to attend any of the two remaining meetings please email It was announced at the 1/22/07 meeting that Greg Osborne is in charge of the party committee. If you would like to help please let Greg know. As you will recall we had a great time last year at the Spaghetti Factory. Also announced was the formation of a committee to study and revise the by-laws as needed and then present the findings to the membership for a vote to accept or decline. Tony Helf and Kevin Stride have accepted roles as part of by-laws committee. Duane Taylor is the board member for the by-laws committee. Trent Harwood then led a very lively discussion on how to deal with coaches. There as many opinions as there are officials. It generally accepted that at all times officials must take the high road and be professional in their dealings with coaches. Officials need to learn how each coach acts and reacts to certain situations and discuss this in your pre-game. The floor was opened for any other items that members wanted to discuss. One item was put forward by Jason Bradley that he would like to see more general business covered at meetings. This was a good point. However, the board decided that this year that we were going to devote the greater part of our meetings with training. This had been lacking in the past and we wanted to put more effort into this for the membership. Association members are always free to ask questions about general association news if they feel something needs to be brught to the attention of the membership.
