Meeting Minutes for February 11, 2008

SCBOWBO General Meeting February 11, 2008 Location: Everett Boys and Girls Club 2316 12th St. Everett, WA 98201 Apprentice Meeting: Meeting called to order at 6:35 PM Kevin Stride welcomed the apprentices and veterans and thanked everyone for coming to the meeting. Kevin Erickson led the group through a Power Point presentation he created on how to become a better official. General Meeting Meeting called to order at 7:30 PM Trent Harwood opened the meeting and thanked all the officials who officiated in the Special Olympics event at Kamiak High School on February 10.             Don McKinney informed us about the Relay for Life Cancer Walk (for awareness and to raise money) that occurs in the end of May in Stanwood.  Snohomish County Basketball Officials will have a team in the event and all are encouraged to participate by walking and/or donating money to the cause.  Both of Angie Schmitt's parents are fighting cancer right now so this battle is PERSONAL!             Trent gave information on the season-end banquet.  It is scheduled for March 20th.  There will be no charge for the official and their significant other, additional children are $10.00 each.  It will be at Legion Hall and starts at 6:30pm.  More information to come.             Jack Palmer passed out rating forms to officials and quickly explained that Pat Kaminske will be paying officials in the order that their completed rating forms are received.             Trent led an officials round table discussion, on “what we learned this year?”             SCBOWBO voted for player, school, coach of the year, as well as new board members.   Player of the Year: Lyndsay Nueman, South Whidbey Coach of the Year: Jeannie Thompson, Jackson Host School of the Year: Granite Falls High School             Trent thanked outgoing board members, Greg Osborne and Jack Palmer, for their three years of service to SCBOWBO.  Trent  welcomed the newly-elected board members, Tim Wheatley and Wayne Sneva. Kevin Stride talked about how we need to continue to recruit people into our association as well as all the other sports. Kevin Stride collected donations to our player scholarship fund. Trent led two basketball scenarios for a quick discussion, then closed the meeting. Board Meeting Prior Meeting called to order at 5:15 PM Alfy's Pizza, North Everett In attendance: Jack Palmer, Trent Harwood, Leslie Tidball, Kevin Stride, Duane Taylor The board added the final touches to the agenda for the general meeting. The board discussed the banquet and awards for officials to be given out. Leslie to get more information on the plaques. The board had a quick review of the current financial situation, and checks are starting to come in from the first half of the year. The board discussed how much money they would budget for camp scholarships this year. * Meeting adjourned at 6:20 PM
