Meeting Minutes for SCBOWBO

August 23, 2007

Meeting Minutes: Thursday, August 23, 2007:

In attendance:  Trent Harwood, Duane Taylor, Leslie Tidball, Greg Osborne, Kevin Stride, Dan Taylor, Pat Kaminske. 

  • Duane will do draft contacts for Dan Taylor and Pat Kaminske and e-mail the drafts to all board members. 

     

  • Voted Board Member positions:
    VP: Kevin Stride
    Secretary: Jack Palmer
    Liaison to Financial and Assigning Secretary: Duane Taylor

    Items of interest / discussion

     

  • 7th & 8th Grade girls basketball starts September 25th  (Stanwood League)

     

  • SCBOWBO General Meetings:

                Have 3 joint meetings with the boys association

                Have 2 meetings in Nov, Dec, and January.

                Last meeting will be the end of season party/banquet.

                Non-joint meetings to be held at Everett Boys and Girls Club.

    Desire to reduce administrative topics at General meetings, suggested to use email for most of the admin topics and to be sent out before a general meeting, then if questions arise can be answered via email, phone, and not spend valuable meeting minutes answering administrative questions.

    Discussion on lowering the amount of general meetings from 8 to 7 for the 2008 -2009 year.

    Issues: Current Constitution has the amount of meetings listed, this would require a constitutional change; the constitution states out certain actions in the 5th 6th and 7th General meeting.

    Kevin expressed dissent to shorten the amt of general meetings.

     

  • Leslie gave an update on being able to use a commuter line for the Ferries.

                Current Issues:

                 Different cars for 1 pass

                 Have to be commuting 9 months out of the year, 3 x a week

                 Leslie is going to contact the boys and softball associations to help meet the commuting requirements (above).

    Action Items:

     

    • Trent is going to find out if Mondays are available at the Boys and Girls Club.
    • Trent to send an email to the rest of the board regarding possible meeting schedule.
    • Trent to send an email to the board regarding September 20th meeting with school directors and WOA
    • Leslie to work out a sportsmanship award program.
    • Kevin to search for new training materials such as videos, etc for all levels
